BIOGRAPHY

Sherry Luchette is an accomplished L.A. bassist playing  jazz, rock, blues and classical. She has performed with many jazz greats including the late Joe Harnell, Tamir Hendelman, Bobby Rodriguez, Al McKibbon and John Clayton. Sherry has performed with the all female jazz ensemble Maiden Voyage, the jazz tentet Dekajaz, the Richard Sherman Trio and was a member of the modern chamber orchestra group "Synergy".

A native of Cleveland, Ohio Sherry began her bass studies at The Dana School of Music in Youngstown and played for five years with the Downbeat award winning Jazz Ensemble of Youngstown. There she played with jazz legends Bill Watrous, Nick Brignola, James Moody, Terry Clark, Bob Mitzner, Marvin Stamm and Jiggs Wigham. Her classical training led her to a position with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra bass section for three years. In Cleveland, Sherry performed and recorded extensively with saxophonist Ernie Krivda and his Fat Tuesday Big Band. The band performed with renowned musical greats Oleta Adams,Ernie Andrews, David Sanborn, Louie Bellson and Terry Gibbs.

In addition to being an accomplished musician Sherry is also an acclaimed music educator and author. She teaches jazz bass and young musicians classes at Pasadena Conservatory of Music. Sherry has authored the Flying Jazz Kittens series. A collection of three elementary  jazz music education books.
